Welcoming the Wintrust Mural

If you’ve ever taken a drive on the Kennedy Expressway, you’ve likely seen a large, stunning mural depicting one of Chicago’s impact-driven nonprofits. Every month, Wintrust debuts a new organization through a grand display of artwork, and this month, it’s CYC’s turn!

Chicago Youth Centers is absolutely elated to announce that our artwork will be showcased on the mural building for about six weeks, starting on November 16th.

CYC’s mural was inspired by the many ways we connect to our children, families, and communities. It illustrates how we are all connected through our programs: when parents drop their children off at our Centers, when we cook together in the kitchen, and when we discover a new subject. CYC is much more than just afterschool and summer programs - we present pathways to possibility and support youth and families at every stage of learning. Because of our dedication to access, engagement, and community building, CYC truly is the place where possibility lives for thousands of kids!

Throughout the pandemic and following a return to in-person learning, we've all had to adapt and find new ways to stay connected to our friends, family, and community. Our mural places an emphasis on the digital and physical borders that can come between us, but show how people can still break across those barriers to connect with one another no matter how old or young, or where you're coming from.

If you’re in the area, be sure to take a look at our beautiful mural and snap a photo if it’s safe to do so.

CYC is grateful for our partnership with Wintrust, who has supported many of our events throughout the years, and provides the space for our annual Shake & Stir gala. We feel extremely fortunate to be able to show CYC’s mission to the city of Chicago! Thank you for connecting with us. You can read Wintrust’s story about our mural here.
