Summer Camp

Location:       Camp Rosenthal

Are you someone kids like to be around? Do you like to swim, hike, play games, sports, bike ride and be out doors? Are you patient, responsible, energetic and organized? Camp Rosenthal is looking for camp counselors, lifeguards, environmental specialists and camp nurses for the summer season June 14th to August 29th, 2008. Our residential camp is located 115 miles from Chicago on a stunning 530 acre site in Dowagiac Michigan. Join us for a summer of adventure, fun and life-changing experiences as we help children explore and excel. Staff are required to live-in during our 8 and 11 day sessions. Assistant Teacher

(3 Full Time positions; 1 Part Time position)

Location:       Crown, *Fellowship, and Gautreaux (1 Part Time and 1 Full Time)

Job Purpose:  Perform functions to assist in the development and implementation of age appropriate lesson plans, reflecting the Head Start standards and CYC education plan.

Requirements:   AA Degree in Early Childhood Education.  1-2 years of related experience.  Strong communication skills (verbal and written).  *Bilingual Spanish/English speaking is required for Fellowship position.

 

Center Director

(1 Full Time position)

Location:       Centro Nuestro

Job Purpose:           Responsible for providing leadership to a community youth center; includes responsibility for program enrollment and outcomes, staff performance and personnel management, property/risk management, community relations, fundraising, and staff leadership for the performance of a Local Advisory Board.

Requirements: Master’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree required in Human Services, Social Work, Education or related Field. Minimum of seven (7) years youth development and related experience, preferably in a community based setting with one or more years of fund development experience; 3-4 years of supervisory/management experience. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Computer expertise (MS Word, Excel, Access, etc). Demonstrated ability to relate effectively with all staff and board levels. Energetic and outgoing personality.  Bilingual Spanish/English speaking is required.

 

 

Education and Disabilities Coordinator

(1 Full Time position)

Location:       Roseland

Job Purpose:    Perform functions to develop, implement, and monitor the educational and disabilities service areas of agency’s Head Start/Child Care program.

Requirements: Master’s degree (Education or Child Development).  3-4 years related experience.  Ability to work with all levels of staff.  Strong communication skills (verbal and written).  Good computer skills.


Foundations and Corporate Development Specialist

(1 Full Time position)

Location:       Central Services

Job Purpose:                      Develops and writes proposals, reports, correspondence, and other documents for specific program support, general and annual support, donor stewardship, events, and external communications purposes. Establishes and maintains relationships with granting agencies, foundations, and corporations. The specialist participates with the CYC advancement team and senior leadership to develop strategies and opportunities for foundation and corporate support of CYC programs, projects, stewardship, and ongoing operations. The specialist develops and nurtures donor relationships, writes proposals, correspondence and other documents, and tracks activities for organizational reporting purposes. The specialist also assists with external communications including newsletters, mailings, reports and presentations.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a preference for English, mass communications, journalism, or other relevant subject matter area.  Excellent command of English and the ability to compose, edit and proof written materials Extensive computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, prefer some experience with PowerPoint and Publisher. Prefer two to five years of professional or relevant volunteer/intern experience Prefer experience with Raisers’ Edge donor database.

 

 

21st Century, Master Youth Worker

(1 Full Time position)

Location:       EDYC

Job Purpose:           In collaboration with the Center Director, shares vision and leadership responsibilities for all youth development program for the 21st Century Program. Takes initiative to plan and implement Positive Youth Development program framework; supervises and models best youth development practices to program staff and volunteers in accordance with the center’s planned objectives.

Requirements:  Baccalaureate Degree in Youth Development, Social Work, Human Services, Education, Recreation, or related field.  Advancing Youth Development Certificate, Youth Worker Certification Levels I and II (may acquire at first opportunity).  Food Service Sanitation Certification (may acquire at first opportunity).  Five (5) years related work experience and demonstrated competence in the field of youth development.  Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Computer expertise (MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.) Energetic and outgoing personality

 


Master Youth Worker

(1 Full Time position)

Location:       Fellowship

Program Aide

(1 Part Time position)

Location:       Centro Nuestro

Job Purpose:  Perform functions to assist the Youth Worker in the provision of services, supports and opportunities for children and youth according to the center’s program plans and the agency’s mission.

Requirements:  High school diploma.  Minimum of (1) year related experience. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Computer expertise (MS Word, Excel etc). Energetic and outgoing personality.

 

Social Service Worker

(2 Full Time positions)

Location:       Roseland and Taylor

Job Purpose:  Perform functions to provide casework services, counseling, and referral resources to families of children enrolled in the child development program to help families set goals and create Individualized Family Service Plans.  Achieve successful transition children to Kindergarten.

Requirements:  Bachelors’ Degree in social services or liberal arts. 1-2 years of related experience. Strong communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse group of people. Bilingual Spanish/English speaking is required for position located at Taylor.

 


Teacher

(1 Full Time position)

Location:       Crown

Job Purpose:  Perform functions to develop classroom plans, supervise classroom activities and general development of children in a preschool teaching environment, reflecting the Head Start standards and the CYC education plan.

Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree required in Early Childhood.  Minimum of 2 - 3 years of related experience (preferred). Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Only resumes with the required credentials will be considered. Bilingual preferred.

 

 

Youth Worker

(3 Part Time positions)

Location:       ABC, BBR, and Crown

Job Purpose: Provide group and individual educational & social developmental service. Supports opportunities for youth. Providing tutoring assistance and participate in the planning, organizing, and scheduling of field trips, camp programs, special events and other program activities.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Youth Development or related field, with a minimum of six semester hours in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, Camping or other related field.

 

Bachelor’s Degree Equivalency:

 

60+ semester hours of college credit plus 4 years of experience in youth development or a related field (six of which must be in a field related to youth development as noted above),

Or

30-59 semester hours of college credit plus 5 years of experience in youth development or a related field (six of which must be in a field related to youth development as noted above).

 

Advancing Youth Development Certificate (may acquire at first opportunity).  One year related work experience preferred and demonstrated ability to work effectively with children in the field of youth development.  Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Computer expertise (MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.).  Energetic and outgoing personality.
