Located in Dowagiac, Michigan, Camp Rosenthal is one of only five remaining camps in the Midwest dedicated to the needs of low-income, at-risk children and offers a unique program designed to provide kids ages 8–15 with opportunities to become familiar with and appreciate the natural world and experience positive life-altering experiences.

The same Positive Youth Development model that is the foundation of program curriculum in the centers is applied at camp to help the children improve the social and life skills that will help them succeed in school and in life.

At Camp Rosenthal, many children experience for the first time how spectacular a starry night is away from city lights, fall asleep and wake up where the only sounds come from nature, and learn to interact successfully with a diversity of new friends under the committed care and guidance of thoroughly trained youth workers.

Teen members can attend as campers or participate in weekend programs at Camp Rosenthal during the pre- and post-camp months—starting as early as late April and continuing with week-end groups, weather permitting, until mid-October.

Summer 2008 Schedule

Campers attend for long-week-end, week-long, and two-week sessions. With the exception of Session #5, which is reserved for 13-15 year olds only, children ages 7-12 are eligible for any session. Spend quality time with your child enjoying the adventure of camping and strengthening the parent/child bond. Parents are encouraged to visit prior the residential season from March to June 8.

Counselors and Village Life

There are four cabins per village, and the villages are designated either all girls or all boys. Two counselors sleep in each cabin of eight campers. Because this camping experience occurs within a residential setting, the sense of community and the social and athletic skills that are developed have a lasting impact—as do the close friendships that are made.
