Camp Counselor

Location: Camp Rosenthal

Job Purpose: Participate in staff training prior to camper arrival.  Participate in in-service training and supervision during the camp session.  Live and work with one group of campers (8 to 10) and assume responsibility for these campers, along with another counselor, for the entire session.  Assume responsibility for campers, in addition to your cabin group, as needed during the session.  Accompany your group to all program activities and assist with or provide instruction for activities as needed.  Follow the schedule and be on time to the activities and events as scheduled.  Plan activities for your cabin group and participate in planning of village and all camp activities.  Work closely with the village leader and participate in village meetings. Be available to discuss problems with staff and campers and to offer suggestions for them to act upon.  Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of your cabin and help with the village duties.  At the conclusion of each camping session, write an evaluation of each camper in your cabin group.  Perform duties as assigned by the Village Director or Camp Directors.  Be in camp during the camp session except on scheduled time off.  Report to camp as scheduled when sessions begin.

Requirements: At least 18 years of age, with preference given high school graduates and college students.  Pass an initial drug test and others taken randomly during the camp session.  Must like kids and desire to live and work in a camp community. Understand the value of the camp experience.

 

Lifeguard / Aquatic Observer

Location: Camp Rosenthal 

Job Purpose: Participate in staff training prior to campers' arrival.  Maintain all necessary and applicable safety standards in the operation of the assigned waterfront area.  Insure campers swim in designated area according to tested abilities. Operate safe and FUN recreational swim program.  Keep swim board and waterfront equipment building neat and clean. Keep the areas surrounding the swimming beach free from trash. Assist counselor(s) with campers when not scheduled to be on lifeguard duty.  Live and work with one group of campers (8 to 10) and assume responsibility for them when their counselor is off-duty. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Waterfront Director.

Requirements: At least 16 years of age for Aquatic Observers, 18 for Lifeguards.  Hold a current Lifeguard Certification. Demonstrate to the Waterfront Director of skills necessary to perform the required duties.  Understand the value of the camp experience.

 

Health Officer / Nurse

Location: Camp Rosenthal 

Job Purpose: Participate in staff training prior to campers arrival.  Give medical attention and care to ill/injured campers and staff according to the physician's standing.  Insure that first aid kits for all units are checked periodically to restock if necessary.  Order necessary supplies through the Administrative and Food Service Coordinator. Control and administer medications brought to camp by campers and staff. Keep medical center clean and neat. Keep medicine cabinets locked at all times.

Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age.  Must be a RN, LPN, or Certified Health Officer.  Pass an initial drug test and others taken randomly during the camp season.  Desire to live and work in a camp community.  Understand the value of the camp experience.

 

Village Director

Location: Camp Rosenthal

Job Purpose: Participate in both Administrative and Staff Training prior to beginning of camping season. Oversee luggage process within village at the beginning and ending of each session.  Make certain all medication are collected and turned in to the Infirmary. Oversee all village activities. Live and work with one group of campers (8 to 10). Facilitate village program events and orientations.  Schedule village clean-up and responsibilities. Daily inspection of cabins and rainy day building.  Supervise village during wake-up and lights out, beginning and ending of morning and afternoon activities, before each meal, snack time and rest hour to assure duty persons are present.  Initiate formal discussions and spot discussions with counselors and specialists in supervisory line.  Work directly with individual campers as needed. Hand out and collect necessary paperwork and supplies for all counselors in supervisory line.  Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Must be at least 20 years of age.  Pass an initial drug test and others taken randomly during the camp season.  Ability to work effectively with other staff.  Exemplify appropriate skills and behavior. Desire to live and work in a camp community.
